Located in Vancouver’s Grandview-Woodland neighbourhood, the Brightside Community Homes redevelopment is a landmark affordable housing initiative led by Brightside Community Homes Foundation. The project comprises two six-storey, L-shaped wood-frame buildings offering 157 studio and one-bedroom units, designed to Passive House standards for exceptional energy efficiency and occupant comfort. Prioritizing accessibility, the development includes adaptable suites and mobility-friendly common areas, fostering an inclusive environment for seniors and individuals with disabilities. A central landscaped courtyard serves as a communal space, enhancing social connection among residents. Supported by a $44.5 million investment from the federal government, this redevelopment replaces two aging buildings from the 1960s and 1970s, significantly increasing the availability of affordable housing in the area.
NuFrame was engaged to deliver a comprehensive material supply package for the Brightside project, encompassing wall panels, design, delivery, and labour for the wood frame structures. By overseeing every aspect from prefabrication to on-site installation, NuFrame ensured precision and efficiency throughout the construction process. Their integrated approach contributed to the successful realization of this significant development, enhancing Vancouver's affordable housing landscape with quality craftsmanship and innovative design.
